As poetic genius, Ariana Grande once said: God is a Woman, which is why you need to call up your girlfriends and organise what you’re doing for International Women’s Day (if you haven’t done so already).
IWD first began more than 100 years ago as a worldwide celebration of the social, cultural, political and economic achievements of women. It’s also a day for us to reflect and discuss how far we still need to go to achieve gender parity.
With just over two weeks to go, we’ve compiled a guide to some of the best IWD events happening around Brisbane from prosecco fuelled high teas to early morning cardio.
QRC/WIMARQ International Women's Day Breakfast
March 5, 2020, @ the Royal International Convention Centre
They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so why not pair it with an equally important conversation? Keynote speaker Katarina Carroll is Queensland's first female Police Commissioner in the service’s 159-year history, which will be followed by the annual panel session with this year's topic being sticky floor or glass ceiling. Tickets are limited, so head to the website to book.
International Women’s Day High Tea
March 7, 2020, @ Hilton Hotel
What do fashion parades, tiny sandwiches and prosecco have in common? That they’ll all be at the Hilton’s annual Women’s Day High Tea! Brought to you by Co.As.It. Community Services, it’s a great opportunity to celebrate the achievements and efforts of the women around us. Tickets for this event can be found here.

If you like to get your sweat on, then this is the perfect option for you! The International Women’s Day Fun Run provides you with two different courses (6km and 10km) making it perfect for any run level.
